  • I am sure some of you are wondering why am I trying to make you sing... It may seem random.. It may seem odd even! ( Haha thoose are two words that should not go together isn't it great?)

I am trying to make you sing is a lyric from David Crowder Band's version of  "The Lark's Ascending". If you have heard the song before then you know the background of the song. If you haven't I am about to tell you! YAY!

"...it was a piece written by Vaughn Williams who died in 1958, and uh, the work opens with this calm set of sustained chords and then (coughs) sorry. Excuse me. And uhmm. Anyway and so then the violin enters as the lark and it...it starts with this series of ascending and repeated intervals and this...these nimble then elongated arpeggios. Uhmm. And he actually found inspiration in a work by the English poet George Meredith who died in 1909 and the composer included a portion of Meredith’s poem on the flyleaf..." - David Crowder

Here is the Poem that inspired the song Larks Ascending:

“He rises and begins to round,
He drops the silver chain of sound,
Of many links without a break,
In chirrup, whistle, slur and shake.
For singing till his heaven fills,
‘Tis love of earth that he instills,
And ever winging up and up,
Our valley is his golden cup
And he the wine which overflows
To lift us with him as he goes.
Till lost on his aerial rings
In light, and then the fancy sings.”

The hole point to the poem is this: “The lark it rises on wing from earth to fill the heavens pulling the rest of us with it. That as the lark rises so do we.” -David Crowder

I believe the lark is anyone that shows God's love, or light. When we share God's love with arrive at this beautiful collision. God is taking over us, his divinity taking over our depravity. As God shines through us we will lift other up and draw them closer to God.
Now for the Lyrics of David Crowders Version of Lyrk Ascending.

"And I’m trying to make you sing
    From inside where you believe
Like it’s something that you need
    Like it means everything

And I’m trying to make you feel that
This is for real, that life is happening
    That it means everything
I’m just trying to make you sing" - David Crowder

The David Crowder Band shows God's light through thier songs helping us sing praises to God, as they grow closer to God, they bring us with them through thier own music.

Now we have come to the Challenge - The challenge I make for everyone that reads this(including me). My challenge is to make others sing! What is the gift that God has instilled into you? Let his light shine through! Is it encouragment? Is it generosity? Is it your Charecter? Is it your life that makes God known to others?  I challenge you all to be Larks! Show everyone else God's light in you, and as you arise and grow closer to God other people will grow closer to him because of you!

    Arise Arise Arise!
